Funded student Project: Anthony Penna

3rd year M.Arch 4+3 Integrated Path to Architectural Licensure (IPAL) student Anthony Penna applied to the NewSchool Foundation for funding to complete the online course Rhino for Architects 2.0. His funding request was approved in January 2022.

The course consists of over 200 asynchronous video tutorials broken down into 10 modules, each module consisting of around 20 videos focusing on 10 different subjects. Additionally, this includes 10 hours of one-on-one synchronous coaching sessions, a search engine focused on finding specific tasks, student discussion forums, and is regularly updated with new video tutorials when new versions are released. The purpose of this course is to get familiar with the most efficient modeling techniques, shortcuts and tricks, discover the best ways to organize my files, layers and structure of the model. Furthermore, how to use blocks, layouts and print documentation directly from Rhino. Anthony will be creating his own parametric algorithms from scratch and discovering how to use BIM in Rhino with VisualARQ. This is especially important for working between Rhino and Revit. The course will help Anthony understand how to use V-Ray rendering engine for Rhino and Grasshopper and create complex organic shapes and structures while also allowing to crate both simple and complex architectural fly-through animations.

Congratulations Anthony!
